TORI NEWS correspondent who visited some banks noticed that the ATMs were out of use or had no cash to dispense. The intentional act by banks followed the Central Bank of Nigeria’s order stopping banks from paying customers with old notes. However, as of Thursday, most of the banks were still paying customers with old notes at the counter. Also, Nairametrics’ finding reveals that some tier-1 banks around Ikeja, Lagos State had no funds available in their Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), attributing it to a lack of new notes, following the directive of the CBN to only dispense new notes.
